Experimental Study on Sulfur Deactivation and Regeneration of Ni-Based Catalyst in Dry Reforming of Biogas

The dry reforming of methane (DRM) using biogas and a Ni-based catalyst for syngas production was studied experimentally in this study under the presence H2S. Using nonpoisoned DRM performance as comparison basis, it found that deactivation by sulfur chemisorption onto surface depends on both reaction temperature time. With low temperatures, complete coverage resulted could not be regenerated. higher H2S decreased, poisoned catalysts experimental results also indicated avoided bi-reforming adding O2 or H2O simultaneously reactant due to stronger capability sulfur. only regenerated after poisoned. high-temperature oxidation process most effective regenerating catalyst.
